Hey there!
The Madonna Inn was made for unique couples who march to the beat of their very own drums. This elegant yet vibrant hotel knows how to curate a celebration your guests will be talking about long after the night is over! As a destination wedding photographer, I love traveling across the state of California to find venues that feel custom-made for you. If you have been considering a Madonna Inn wedding, here is what you need to know!
100 Madonna Road, San Luis Obispo, California 93405
The Madonna Inn and wedding venue prides itself on legendary stories, including its very own! This hotel first opened its doors in 1958 with just 12 rooms to its name. They quickly went to work adding another 28 rooms to satisfy their growing clientele. Soon, it became clear that their glamorous rooms were simply not enough for their guests. They craved an experience, and The Madonna was just the hotel to give it to them! They worked on the main building, adding a wine cellar, a bakery, a coffee shop, a cocktail lounge, a dining room, and several boutiques. In the meantime, they continued to add on hotel rooms, taking the time to completely customize each and every living space.
The owners were, above all else, curators. They collected one-of-a-kind items, adding them to the hotel to share with their guests. Take, for example, the Gold Rush dining room table that came straight from the Hearst Castle, or check out the doors that were hand-carved by a variety of expert woodworkers. Whether you are staying here for the weekend or you are using this as a spot to write the next chapter of your love story, The Madonna Inn has just the space for you!

With the Madonna Inn, your wedding day is going to start out in your room. When I say their luxury suites are one of a kind, I mean it! Each space has been decorated with its very own theme, so you can choose the room that will look best in your wedding pictures. From the vibrant pink Madonna Suite to the zebra-print Jungle Room, you are going to have your pick! Each of the spaces has walls made out of natural stone that brilliantly tie in the surrounding nature.

For your ceremony, you will have a number of spots to choose from. If you would prefer an indoor wedding, you are going to fall deeply in love with the Dance Floor. This decadent space has been decorated with the venue’s statement pink paint. Wooden rafters and pink vintage lights celebrate the spirit of the wild west. Meanwhile, a grand spiral staircase is going to give you a truly dramatic backdrop! This area is able to host up to 160 guests.

If you would prefer an outdoor space, you can use The Secret Garden, and yes, this area is every bit as romantic as it sounds! Strategically planted hedges and trees give the feeling of seclusion, while colorful perennials give you English garden vibes. This space is able to hold up to 250 guests.

They also offer the Madonna Meadows if you’d like something a little more untamed. With tall grasses and premium views of San Luis Obispo Mountain, this space feels downright ethereal.
You can pick from a number of different spaces for your cocktail hour, but I personally love the idea of using The Secret Garden for this portion. Your guests can take in the exceptional views while you pick from a huge variety of photo backdrops.

Finally, it will be time for your reception. Once again, you are going to have options! They have several intimate spaces, such as the rugged Round Room, the vibrant pink Gay 90s room, and the colorful Balcony. Larger events can take place inside the Garden Room, where you can celebrate beneath crystal chandeliers that dangle from wooden rafters. There are also garden murals on all of the walls. Next up is the Venetian Room, where you will have enough space for up to 250 people. Murals of Italy are painted across the walls, while the rafters are covered in stone. Additionally, they do offer the industrial chic Expo Center, where you can host up to 1,000 seated guests.

As a wedding photographer, I can’t help but fall deeply in love with all the photo potential at Madonna Inn! The rooms are always a fun spot to take candid pictures, giving you unique backdrops full of color!

Once it’s time for your couple’s portraits, you can wander around the property and find endless spots such as the private balconies, the spiral staircase, and the lush gardens. The exterior of the hotel itself gives you a water feature as well as the trademark blush pink facade. The Madonna Meadows is always a great spot for golden hour pics! Finally, you can use The Secret Garden for group shots with your entire wedding party!

The Madonna Inn loves nothing more than planning legendary events! First off, they have their very own on-site planning team. Their experts are going to help you orchestrate all the details that will make your day stand apart. Next, they are going to handle all of the food. They can offer a variety of styles such as luncheons, buffets, banquets, and themed dinners. They even have an impressive vegetarian menu! They offer their own bartenders and will help you pick from the drink package that will keep your party flowing. They will also provide you with all the staffing you need throughout your wedding.

If you are looking for a space that celebrates your colorful personality, you’ll find it in the Madonna Inn wedding venue! This legendary hotel is going to deliver a celebration full of charm!
